Passaic Valley’s fearlessness could bring a third consecutive Passaic County girls volleyball title.

The two-time defending champ has thrived in the county’s do-or-die format. The third-seeded Hornets must survive No. 2 Wayne Valley in Wednesday’s 5 p.m. semifinal at Clifton to advance to Saturday’s final at Lakeland.

Over the past two weeks, a lineup that features seniors Tina Predojevic, Taylor Humes and Gabby Mattoon has posted regular-season wins over Wayne Valley and top-seeded Clifton, which hosts No. 4 DePaul in the 6:30 p.m. semifinal.

“I don’t have an explanation for it,” said coach Bill Robertazzi, whose team is 13-5 entering Monday action. “But this has been a group that has proven in high-pressure situations that they have raised their level of play, and I think that has been a factor over the last couple of weeks.”
