PV HORNETS BASEBALL 2016 SEASON OUTLOOK

An anonymous baseball player once said, “Never let fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.”  This is the spirit of the 2016 Passaic Valley Hornets, never quit, always believe, always give your best.  Never let anything or anyone get in the way of your success.

The 2016 Hornets and coaching staff have a clear vision for our season, work hard, believe in yourself, believe in the team, no matter what.  We all worked hard this winter to become better baseball players and a strong team.  We have come a long way to prove ourselves and make Passaic Valley HS proud, and turn the doubters into believers.

The Hornets have a lot going for us in 2016 and many critical factors will come together to help make a winning season.  Intensive winter workouts in a new larger facility will make us faster and stronger, combined with our strong coaching staff the Hornets will come out stinging.

The season opens in Sunny Tampa Florida at the end of March where we will begin our Spring scrimmage season and play our first official game.  This is the first time that the Hornets have traveled to Florida for back-to-back seasons since 2005 and we plan to make the most of it by bonding as a team as we all work hard to help ensure a strong start.

This year the Hornets have nine players returning to the Varsity diamond, six senior and three sophomore and junior letter winners.  The 2016 senior Captains include Ryan Appello, John Axiotaxis, Brendan Damiano, Nick Galese,  Alex Madonia and last but not least  Spencer Perzely.  Carlos Morales, Anthony Ward and Chris Watkins are the returning sophomore and junior lettermen who round out the team.

This year the Hornets look forward to a great season with a positive, confident outlook.  The Hornets are ready to show their love of the game by giving their best, every pitch, every swing, every inning and every play.

Legendary coach Jim Vanscoy once said “The greats say that baseball is the only game where the object is to just get home.”   That is exactly what the 2016 Hornets will work to do, bring home a great season.
